Workshop on Future Direction in EC

The workshop was in two sessions as listed below:
Session 1: Wednesday, December 10, 10:00AM-12:00PM.
Session 2: Wednesday, December 10, 1:00PM-3:00PM.
The Workshop followed up on the findings of a similar meeting held during CEC2002.  In the first session, presentations made by several researchers were revisited, and an evaluation of the current status and future of the filed was attempted.  During the second session, active discussions took place with the audience invited to ask questions.
Topics
    • EC framework: stand-alone, integrated with other methods, or both.  Identify key theories and applications for each.
    • How does industry look at EC in terms of (i) viability and (ii) points raised in item (1) above.
    • International collaboration - where does funding come from and how do we look for it?
    • Preaching the use of EC: education and training.  Are we doing enough?
